About

I’m an environmental and science reporter finishing up a M.A. degree in journalism at Michigan State University. These stories about the Poweshiek skipperling and the decline of butterflies are my professional project and the final step toward my degree.

I hold a M.S. degree from MSU in Fisheries and Wildlife and have worked for more than 20 years in conservation with The Nature Conservancy’s West Virginia and Minnesota/North Dakota/South Dakota Chapters, the MN Department of Natural Resources, The Conservation Fund and the Land Conservancy of West Michigan.

When I realized I could merge my passions for science and conservation with storytelling, I decided to take the plunge and change my career to journalism.

I have completed reporting internships with WKAR out of East Lansing and MLive out of Grand Rapids. My work has appeared in many outlets throughout Michigan, including the Detroit Free Press, MLive, WKAR, Bridge Michigan, Capital News Service, Great Lakes Echo, Planet Detroit, Lansing State Journal, Midland Daily News, Traverse City Record-Eagle, Cadillac News, Michigan Farm News and others.

Born and raised in Vienna, Austria, I am bilingual in English and German. I’m a proud prairie nerd and in my free time enjoy spending time with my partner Paul, our three cats and seven chickens, plus photography, hiking, gardening, running, hunting and reading.
